The recent Workshop on Speciality Optical Fibres (WSOF 2013; 28-30 Aug-2013; Sigtuna, Sweden) covered a number of topics relevant to MINERVA including progress on mid-IR super-continuum sources and chalcogenide fibre developments. Gary Stevens from G&H presented a poster on handling and splicing soft glass fibres which was well received. Walter Margulis and his colleagues at Acreo Swedish ICT did a great job of organising the event, which was attended by >180 people.
